When ownership of a property changes
In connection with property sales, the seller and buyer are obliged to ensure that ownership of the electricity, water and district heating connections is transferred. These connections are movable property, so they are not automatically transferred to the new owner. Notifications can be submitted to us electronically.
It is advisable for the deed of sale to state that the connections are included in the sale. The transfer of these connections must be agreed in such a way that it can be verified retrospectively. The transfer of connections applies to property agreements (for example, detached houses, holiday homes or farmsteads). In blocks of flats and terraced houses, the connection is owned by the housing association, and the buyer of the flat does not need to arrange for the transfer of the connection.
All outstanding charges relating to the property must be settled before ownership can be transferred, unless the new connection owner expressly agrees to assume responsibility for them.
It is also important to remember to record any connections as part of the estate’s assets when settling an estate. Please notify Neve when ownership is transferred to the estate, the heir to the property or the purchaser, either by contacting our customer service or, where possible, by using the online forms.

Electricity contract
Your electricity contract and any related changes must be made with your electricity supplier. You can find your supplier’s contact details on your electricity bill, for example, or you can compare prices for your electricity contract on the impartial website maintained by the Energiamarkkinavirasto at www.sahkonhinta.fi.
Your electricity supplier will provide us with the address details of your new home, and your electricity transmission contract will be set up automatically as a result. Rovaniemen Verkko Oy acts as the network operator and bills for electricity transmission in the Rovaniemi city centre area. Please note the following when taking out an electricity contract:
- Notify your electricity supplier of your move in good time, at least 14 days before you move.
- If your move is less than three days away, please contact your electricity supplier by telephone, as the electricity supply to the property may have been cut off.
- There is a charge for connecting the electricity on the day of your order. We will charge a fee for the connection in accordance with our service price list. View our service price list
- An electricity contract cannot be started or terminated with backdated effect.

Water connection
The owner of the connection is obliged to notify the water supplier of the transfer of the property and any change of ownership. When a change of ownership takes place, the water meter reading must also be reported if the property does not have a remotely readable meter.

Water supply contract and change of tenant
The connection owner is also obliged to notify us of the tenant and any change of tenant when the domestic water supply contract is in the tenant’s name, i.e. the tenant pays for the water used in the property.
District heating connection
The connection owner is obliged to notify us of the transfer of the property and any change of ownership. We receive meter readings via remote reading.

Heating contract and change of tenant
The connection owner is also obliged to notify us of the tenant and any change of tenant when the heating contract is in the tenant’s name, i.e. when the tenant pays us for the heat used in the property.
