An electricity connection for a large property is required when there is a high demand for power, for example in a property management company or housing association, an industrial hall or a commercial property.

The power requirement and the location of the connection determine the connection voltage. The property’s electrical engineer should contact the network operator at an early stage of the project so that arrangements for connection to the electricity network can be agreed flexibly.

Rovaniemen Verkko Oy is responsible for the service and acts as the network operator in the Rovaniemi city centre area, whilst Enontekiön Sähkö Oy does so in the Enontekiö municipal area.

PRICING AND SUPPLY

The price of an electricity connection for a large property depends on the power rating and the location.

Two factors affect the delivery time for an electricity connection: the zone in which the property is located and the capacity of the connection. Typically, the delivery time for large properties is three months from the date the connection contract comes into force.

Setting up an electricity supply

1. Check whether the property is within our area

An electricity connection links your property to the electricity network operated by Rovaniemen Verkko Oy or Enontekiön Sähkö Oy. We operate via Rovaniemen Verkko Oy in the Rovaniemi city centre area and via Enontekiön Sähkö Oy in the Enontekiö municipal area. Check the distribution area map to see if you are within Rovaniemen Verkko’s service area.

2. Choose an electrician and have an electrical plan drawn up for the building

It is always advisable to draw up a contract in writing. An electrical contractor must hold a licence issued by the Electrical Inspection Centre or the Centre for Safety Technology. An electrical contractor or electrical designer can advise you on electrical matters relating to construction and tell you what sort of electricity supply you need.

3. Complete the online application form

Complete the application once your building permit has been confirmed and you know your electricity requirements. To apply for an electricity connection, you will need:
• details of the type of property, addresses and property identification numbers
• details of the premises to be metered
• a site plan and, for large properties (over 63 A), also a main distribution board diagram
• details of the fuse size for the connection

4. Sign the connection agreement; we’ll set up the connection

The connection agreement is drawn up before work on the connection begins. The connection agreement specifies the connection point and the fee for the electricity connection. The lead time for the connection varies depending on the location of the site, ranging from two to three months. It is therefore advisable to make arrangements well in advance, particularly if the electricity connection is required during the construction phase.

5. Check that the conditions for connecting the electricity supply are met

To enjoy the benefits of an electrified lifestyle in your property, the following requirements must be met.
• You have a valid connection contract.
• You have a valid electricity supply contract.
• You have a valid network service contract with Rovaniemen Verkko Oy or Enontekiön Sähkö Oy.
• Your electrical contractor has submitted and signed the metering form at least 14 days in advance.
