Change to the main fuse size

As electricity consumption increases – for example, due to charging an electric car – it may become necessary to increase the capacity of your electricity supply and the main fuses in your property. Your electrician will determine the appropriate fuse rating for your property.

You can request an increase in your electricity supply capacity from the network operator using the supply connection order form. We at the network operator will ensure that the electricity network has sufficient capacity and will then update the connection contract to reflect the new fuse rating. The new connection contract is signed electronically.

Once your connection entitlement has been updated, you can arrange for an electrician of your choice to replace the main fuses. The electrician must notify us of the date of the fuse replacement using the metering form.

It is possible to reduce the size of the main fuses at a later date. In this case, the connection entitlement remains the same and the connection fee will not be refunded. The customer’s electrician must notify us of the reduction in fuse size using the metering form. We will update the network service agreement in accordance with the electrician’s notification.

Costs of increasing the connection capacity:

An additional connection fee will be charged for increasing the connection size in accordance with the current connection price list; this fee is the difference between the connection fees for the increased connection size and the existing connection size. For example, the cost of upgrading a connection from 3x25A to 3x35A is €511 according to the current connection price list.

The fee will be invoiced as a one-off payment following the update of the connection contract.

Following the increase in fuse rating, the network service contract will also be updated to reflect the new fuse rating. This will affect the basic network service charge. For example, the basic charge for general electricity at 3x25A is €8.16 per month, whilst the basic charge for general electricity at 3x35A is €16.53 per month.
